Springs of Hope Mashinani (SOH) is a dedicated community-based organization operating in Kenya. Founded in 2020 by Penina Kinya Marete Ireri, we’re committed to uplifting children and youth by providing educational support, food programs, and essential life skills through mentorship. Our goal is to break the cycle of poverty and create lasting positive change in Makueni, Kajiado, and Meru Counties.
Our Founder
Penina Kinya Marete Ireri is a dedicated social worker and the driving force behind Springs of Hope Mashinani. With her background as a water engineer, she has extensive experience managing community projects focused on development and emergency response.
Witnessing the hardships faced by local families firsthand motivated Penina to establish SOH in 2020. Her goal was to empower communities and boost livelihoods through strategic interventions.
As a passionate advocate for youth empowerment, Penina is also an active Rotarian with the Nkubu Chapter. She has adeptly served the club in various leadership roles over the years, including as President and District Grants Officer. Penina’s experience and tireless commitment to service is what continues to propel SOH’s meaningful work impacting lives in Mashinani.
Our Mission
Our mission is to ensure all children get access to quality education while being well-nourished and mentored in a nurturing environment. We aim to create opportunities that allow every child to fulfill their potential.
What We Do
Through various impactful projects, we are changing lives in Makueni, Kajiado, and Meru Counties. Our flagship initiatives include the Cup of Porridge school feeding program, educational sponsorship through fees support and a mentorship program focused on empowering youth. We also operate a growing library to promote literacy and recently launched a Tree Planting Drive to boost environmental stewardship in the area. Going forward, our vision is to scale up programs and establish multi-sectoral community hubs for holistic development.
School Fees Project
Pays school fees and provides financial support to needy students.

Offers a daily cup of porridge to feed pupils in local schools.
